I’m loving this whole being off on and around the holidays thing. It’s been too long since I’ve been able to enjoy something like this. Getting rsvp emails from different members of the family for the open house we’ll be having over here Monday. All yes’s as far as I’ve heard. I keep thinking of the tones of different people’s voices and it makes me feel light and fresh, like carbonation (what?), because there’s nothing better than a house filled with the voices of my big, strange family. Everyone’s family is big and strange to them, isn’t it? Or at least strange. Hopefully in a good way.
Cookies? Oh there’ll be cookies. I’m making these Peppermint Crunch Chocolate Chip Cookies and these Chocolate Fudge Pomegranate Cookies. The dough for the latter is already mixed and keeping in the fridge. There was a lot of butter in the kitchen today. Eeeexcellent. There will be poppy seed rolls as well for the Slovak in all of us.
The next three days are going to be a marathon. My stomach has been training for it at the very least.
